Managing appraisals for employees
As an manager you will be required to fill out appraisals for employees that report into you. Once you have completed your sections this will automatically go to the employee to complete and will be returned to you to sign off.
Log into People Manager, on the lefthand side of your homepage you will see a widget called my line managements outstanding appraisal. Click on the date to open the appraisal.
Reviewing and confirming an appraisal
Objectives
Click on add new objective, you will get 2 boxes appear allowing you to add the name of the objective and the criteria for a successful completion. The date field below will automatically default to the next appraisal date, click on this and change the date if required. If you wish to remove the objective click delete. Scroll down and click save and continue when ready.
Company Values
Within the company value screen you can add comments next to each one regarding how you feel the employee has worked against those values.
Review previous objectives
If the employee has had previous appraisals, they will be able to comment on previous objectives and how they have progressed.
Peer Review
As a manager you also have the ability to request peer review feedback for the employee. Click on request feedback.
Type the name of the person you wish to request feedback from, when you start typing the system will show you names to select from. You can add as many names as you like, a list will start populating in top pending feedback requests panel. When ready click send feedback request message(s). Those employees will get a request to provide feedback for their colleague. You will return to the screen above, click continue to move to the next section.
Client testimonial
You can also add client feedback you may have received for the employee. Click add new testimonial to open a new testimonial. Enter the client's name and the feedback in the 2 free text boxes. You an attach supporting documents if you wish. You can delete if you need to. When you are ready click save and continue at the bottom of the screen.
Learning and development
Employees can add training courses to their records. Admins can also add to an employees record as well. These will be shown in the training courses panel. As a manager you can add some comments about training or additional training details. When done click on save and continue.
Outcome and rating
You can enter your overview statement at any stage. You can see that the employee one is greyed out. You can enter your rating and career progressions using the dropdowns and a date for the next appraisal. When you are ready you can save draft.
Save draft means it has not yet been completed by the employee, so you are unable to submit the appraisal.
Reviewing and confirming an appraisal
Once the employee has submitted the appraisal, you will need to confirm the appraisal. Click on the date to open the appraisal.
As you go through each section, text fields will be greyed out and can no longer be changed. On the final section outcome and rating, your manager overview statement, rating, career progression will remain open for you to add details to. The appraisal date will automatically be set for the next appraisal date.
When you are ready click confirm appraisal. You will see a green success message at the bottom of the screen and the all fields will become greyed out.
