Introduction
RSM has introduced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for InTime pay and bill clients to enhance security. This means administrators will now need to use an authenticator app to sign in to InTime and our client portal document centre, adding an extra layer of protection to their accounts. Below are some FAQs to help you understand and set up MFA.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your online accounts. It requires you to provide another piece of information, such as a code from an app, in addition to your password. This makes your account much more secure.
Why do I need to use an authenticator app to sign in?
InTime and our client portal requires an authenticator app to enhance security. This app generates a unique code that you must enter along with your password, ensuring that even if someone steals your password, they can't access your account without the code.
Which authenticator apps can I use?
Any secure authenticator app can be used, authenticators are freely available on both the android and apple store. The most popular authenticators are Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator apps. Both are available for free on the Android and Apple stores.
Are any other methods of multi-factor authentication available?
No, InTime and the client portal only supports using an authenticator app. This is the safest method because it generates a unique, constantly changing code on your phone. Even if someone knows your password, they can't access your account without this code.
What happens next?
Starting now, any new client will automatically have MFA applied to their account. Existing clients will receive a communication with the date when MFA will be enabled for them.
To prepare for the switch, you can download an authenticator app to your mobile. Instructions for setup will be provided when you attempt to log in for the first time after MFA is enabled
