Creating Overtime Rules (Daily, Periodic, Consecutive Days)

This functionality is only available to clients who have purchased the Time Patterns and Filters Module.

Overtime rules are automatically applied to a timesheet when it is submitted by a worker. These customisable rules can be set against each placement so several overtime rules may be in use at any time to meet contractual needs. Overtime rules can be applied:

Daily - thresholds are applied per day

By Period - thresholds are applied to the entire timesheet period (e.g. week or month)

Consecutive days - thresholds applied after a number of consecutive days have been worked.

The overtime rule can be set against a rate name or the pay element used against the placement rate. 

Creating an Overtime Rule

1.    Go to System Configuration > Timesheets > Overtime Rules. Existing overtime rules will be listed, alternatively to create a new rule click on Create.

2.    Under the General section, select whether you would like to add the rule against rates by name or rates by pay element.

3.    Once complete, click Save.

4.    To apply the overtime rule to a placement go to Profiles > Placements > Edit. Under the Timesheet tab, select the rule from the Overtime Rules dropdown.

Examples of application of overtime rules: 

Any worked hours <= 37 hours between Monday to Friday to be paid at standard rate (Standard), any hours > 37 hours to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1).

Any worked hours <= 7.5 hours on any day to be paid at standard rate (Standard), any hours > 7.5 hours to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1).

Any worked hours <= 7.5 hours on any day to be paid at standard rate (Standard), any hours > 7.5 hours to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1). Any hours > 9.5 hours to be paid at overtime rate 2 (OT2).

Any worked hours between Monday to Friday to be paid at standard rate (Standard), any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1).

Any worked hours <= 7.5 hours on any day to be paid at standard rate (Standard), any hours > 7.5 hours to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1). Any hours worked on Saturday to be paid at overtime rate 2 (OT2).

Any hours worked Monday to Friday to be paid at standard rate (Standard). Any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1) where => 37 hours have been worked between Monday to Friday.

Any worked hours <= 40 hours between Monday to Friday to be paid at standard rate (Standard). Any hours worker > 40 hours between Monday to Friday to be paid at overtime rate 1 (OT1). Any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday to be paid at overtime rate 2 (OT2). Any hours worked on a bank holiday to be paid at overtime rate 3 (OT3).

Normal hours paid at Standard Rate. More than 8 hours worked Monday to Friday to be paid at OT1. Saturday paid at OT1 unless more than 40 hours worked in the period then OT2. Sunday paid at OT2 then OT3 when more than 4 hours worked on that day. Any hours worked on a bank holiday to be paid at overtime rate 3 (OT3).

Normal hours paid on Standard rate. Any hours worked more than 5 consecutve days to be paid at OT1.

Normal hours paid on Standard rate. Normal time after 4 consecutve days to be paid at OT1, more than 6 hours worked per day after 4 consecutive days paid at OT2.
