Effective Dates for Rates

This feature enables rates to become effective (Active) on a certain date. It also allows you to change the pay or charge amount of a particular rate over time. Please contact RSM InTime support if you require this feature.

Effective Rates are identified by a unique name. If there is more than one rate with the same name shown on the placement screen they are treated as one rate that changes over time. The one that is currently active is determined by the Effective From date. A rate is active until it is superseded by another rate of the same name with a more recent Effective From date. If the Effective From date is empty it is effective from the start of the placement. If this feature is not enabled all rates that exist on the placement are always active.

On the Edit Placement page Rates are automatically grouped by name and ordered by the Effective From date.

When entering a timesheet only the active rates for each day are available. The pay charge rate of the active rate will be used. If a new rate becomes active within the timesheet period there may be more than one rate of the same name with different pay/charge rates on the timesheet as in the example below.

Effective rates can be managed through the RSM InTime Web Services from version 25 onwards.

Effective rates can also be managed with Bullhorn integrations by using the dateEffective or dateClientEffective fields on the Bullhorn Placement. Please contact RSM InTime support if you wish to use effective Rates with Bullhorn.

Example:

On this placement Standard Rate has a Pay of 10 and charge of 15 from the beginning of the placement (as the effective From is empty). It is then superseded by a new pay and charge of 12 and 15 Effective From 01/02/2019. The Overtime Rate is active from 01/02/2019.

When entering a Timesheet for this placement for the period ending 03/02/2019 the Standard Rate pay and charge is 10 and 15 for days up until 01/02/2019, then 12 and 15 for 01/02/2019 onwards. The overtime rate can not be selected for days prior to 01/02/2019. The Rate Information section at the bottom shows both Standard Rates that are used during the period and these are distinguishable by the Effective From and Pay and Charge values.
